Chris Mooney Princeton Offense “Star Passing” Drill | Princeton Offense HoopTalk | Youth Basketball Drills

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Chris Mooney's Princeton Offense "Star Passing" Drill

We have a new addition to our basketball coaching website and it will deal with basketball drills for beginners. It is Coach Stephen Dale’s Princeton Offense HoopTalk. He is the assistant varsity boys basketball coach at University High School in Baton Rouge, LA (on the campus of LSU).

Coach Stephen Dale on Princeton Offense "Star Passing" Drill

Make sure that you check out Today’s edition of Basketball Drills on Princeton Offense “Star Passing” Drill.  To run the Princeton-style offense effectively, all five players on the floor must be fundamentally-sound passers.  The “Star Passing” drill works on the fundamentals of the “Chest Pass,” as well as “communication” and “meeting the pass.”  Chris Mooney, former Princeton player and current head men’s basketball coach at the University of Richmond, runs this drill at the beginning of every single practice. Coach Dale did a great job with these youth basketball drills.  It is a must to read!
